Beeville, May 18. Funeral Services for Rev. William Roy Mathis Gattis, 48, member of a prominent Live Oak family, were held this afternoon.
Rev. Gattis died May 15 at Winslow, Arizona where he had been a hospital patient for the past year. He was a native of Eastland County, Texas. He held Methodist pastorates at Kirksville, MO, Alton, IL, and Canton, MO prior to becoming ill and forced to move to New Mexico and Arizona for his health.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Thelma Gattis; a son, Roy Gattis of Kankakee, IL, and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth of Santa Fe, New Mexico, four sisters, Mrs. Gracie Ault, Blackwell, Texas, Mrs. A. W. Kinkler of Clareville, Mrs. A. J. Kimball of Minteral and Mrs. Lester Lewis of Clareville, and five brothers, W. E. Gattis of Elgin, R. P. Gattis of Louisiana, Ernest Gattis of Port Arthur, T. L. Gattis of George West and Dee Gattis of Bellville. |
